How do your customers describe your product?
Most industries have a rich vocabulary of technical terms and descriptions, which have evolved to aid clarity and improve efficency of communciation inside that industry.
Unfortunately, most customers do not understand that vocabulary, they may put a slightly different interpretation on words, or even use completely different words to describe a product or service.
Google recently did an ‘on-the-street’ people poll as part of some internet product marketing. They simply asked a number of people what a ‘web browser’ was? The video is very educational!
The important message to take away is that you need to use the language of your clients and prospects if you wish to communicate with them effectively. Don’t ‘assume’ they understand even common industry jargon.
As Google demonstrated, perhaps you should ask the question!
Get this right and your marketing messages will be delivered to the right people and be much more effective in converting interest into action.
