The Guardian to be published only on Twitter!

Earlier this week, The Guardian announced that it would cease production of its traditional newsprint editions, and publish exclusively on the micro-blogging platform – Twitter. In addition a project was in place to rewrite the newspaper’s archives as Tweets.

Upon closer examination of the article and inspection of the calendar, it turned out to be an April Fool’s spoof, following on the Guardian’s own rich heritage in this area – the island of San Serif for example.

However there is no smoke without fire:
- in the newspaper business, sales continue to fall and advertising revenue declines.
- in the same week, the Guardian won another industry award for the quality of its news website.

Has the Guardian therefore predicted their own future, where they move to publishing exclusively online to a World audience (but not necessarily with Twitter)?

I’d be interested in hearing people’s views on this.
