What is the first position in Google rankings actually worth?
This is a figure which Google never discloses, however Chitika Research in the US recently published research based on traffic sampled from their advertising network of sites.
It showed that the traffic to the No1 ranked site :
- was over a third of the total traffic in the sample
- almost equalled the combined traffic from spots 2-5
- exceeded the traffic received by numbers 5 through to the end of Page 2 (position 20)
