Why you need a social media strategy, not a Facebook strategy

Companies are now recognising the opportunities available to raise their visibility and promote their brand through the social media.

And for many, that ‘strategy’ consists of creating a Facebook page or opening a Twitter account, adding some basic information and updating their status occasionally. And then waiting for something to happen!

There was an excellent blog post today on eConsultancy.com which discussed the shortcomings of this approach, and laid out the rationale for a broader social media strategy tied in to an overall marketing  plan for achieving tangible business objectives.

With social media, it is too easy to get distracted by the ‘what‘ and ‘when‘, unless the business has clear objectives focused on ‘why‘!

If you would like to learn more about implementing a social media strategy for your business, contact us today or come along to one of our Social Media workshops. The next workshop is on Sept 14th in Chester.
