Tracking traffic to your Facebook Page

So your business now has a presence on Facebook with its own customised Page, and you’d like to know how popular it is!

Facebook provides plenty of useful statistics through the Insights panel, which is available to the Page Admins. This includes -

User information (tracked daily):

  • Active Users
  • New Likes
  • Demographic split by age and gender

Page Activity:

  • Page views and unique page views
  • Tab views
  • Media consumption ie. photos, audio, video

Data can be exported as a XLS or CSV file, however this is cannot currently be automated.

You can also add a further level of tracking with Google Analytics which potentially can provide a lot of additional information such as how visitors got to your Facebook Page, time spent on the page, etc. This approach is particularly useful for companies that have added one or more custom ‘tabs’ to the Facebook Page to use as landing pages etc.
